World Cup 2022: Israel made a deal with FIFA and Qatar

Israel has reached an agreement with FIFA and Qatar to allow direct charter flights from Ben Gurion Airport to the FIFA World Cup, which starts on November 20th. The charter flights will be operated by the airline currently flying to Doha. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will provide consular services through a private international travel company. Yair Lapid thanked the ministries of foreign affairs, transport, culture and sports, as well as the National Security Council for their efforts. “We have provided all guarantees, including access to consular services for Israelis during their stay in Qatar. As this is the first World Cup ever held in the Middle East, it promises to be a celebration of football and an opportunity for Israelis to connect and share cultural experiences with people from our region and around the world,” — said Foreign Ministry Director General Alon Ushpiz. According to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, thanks to this deal, Israelis and Palestinians will be able to fly and enjoy football together.
