Women take the lead: Iran protests continue for 100 days

One hundred days after the start, the longest anti-government protests in Iran since the 1979 Islamic revolution shocked the regime, but cost people dearly.

BBC reports.

According to the Human Rights Defenders News Agency (HRANA), more than 500 protesters, including 69 children, were killed. Two protesters were executed.

Although there have been protests in Iran before, the current demonstrations are unique as they involve people from different walks of life and women play a leading role.

In addition, Iranian celebrities have taken irrevocable steps in support of the protests, leading to their arrest or exile.
