The release of the film “Emancipation” with Will Smith may be delayed until 2023, having been scheduled to premiere in fall 2022. The possible postponement of the date is most likely related to the incident at the Oscars, Variety writes citing its sources.
Then Smith hit comedian Chris Rock right during the 94th awards ceremony. After the incident, the Hollywood star banned from attending the Oscars and all events related to the Academy for a period of 10 years, and several films with his participation were put on pause.
Also among the reasons for postponing the release date of the film on the streaming platform are problems in post-production, the workload of the service in the second half of 2022 of the year, as well as the impact of restrictions related to the coronavirus.
The picture is being produced by Apple in conjunction with Smith's Westbrook Studios production company. Director of “Emancipation” has become Antoine Fuqua.
Apple Original Films has not yet commented on this issue.
Recall that Will Smith received the Oscar for the main male role in the film “King Richard”.
