WHO announced the end date of the coronavirus pandemic

The World Health Organization announced that 2022 will be the year of the end of the pandemic, which has already killed more than 5.6 million people worldwide.

Hope is pinned on development of second and third generation vaccines, as well as further development of antimicrobial drugs and other innovations.

“We hope that this disease will become relatively easy, and we can easily prevent and treat it,” said WHO chief emergency expert Mike Ryan, reports Reuters.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus, in turn, said that China, where the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus was first detected at the end of 2019, should provide data and information related to its origin to assist in further response.

“If we can keep the transmission of the virus to a minimum, we can end the pandemic,” Tedros said.

WHO has previously announced that there is evidence that the Omicron strain ; spreads faster than other variants. However, it can infect vaccinated and recovered COVID.
