WHO Africa: Omicron is not as scary as it is painted
The new strain of Omicron coronavirus turned out to be not as scary as it is supposed to be.
According to AFP, COVID-19 cases in Africa for doubled a week, but hospital admissions remain low.
Omicron is “ reaching more African countries, '' according to the WHO Africa office, but researchers are still investigating whether the strain is behind the dramatic rise in incidence. >
& quot; Data for hospital admissions in South Africa between November 14 and December 4 showed that intensive care unit occupancy was only 6.3%. This is a very low figure compared to the same period when the country faced a peak associated with the Delta option '', & ndash; noted in WHO.
