Infected with the coronavirus COVID-19 the most dangerous in the first week when the symptoms appear.
On the eve of the publication reported the South China Morning Post, citing a study by microbiologists from Hong Kong, published on the website of The Lancet.
It is based on the analysis of saliva samples of 23 patients who had confirmed COVID-19. In the morning they took a swab of the oropharynx. According to the results, the viral load in saliva from patients aged 35 to 75 years was the highest for seven days after symptom onset, and then declined.
The researchers argue that the coronavirus can stay in the body for almost a month. In one case, COVID-19 was discovered 25 days after the patient has developed symptoms. “One third of our patients had isolation of virus for 20 or more days”, said the researchers, adding that patients may have to stay longer in detention centers.
