Oceanologists spotted a female humpback whale off the coast of Hawaii, which was entangled in debris floating in the ocean.
According to the Associated Press, the specialists managed to reach up to the whale and free him. Oceanologists had to obtain special permission from the authorities to approach the whales and save the female.
It is specified that the female whale “traveled” with a male and a cub. She became entangled in ropes and other debris, which prevented her and the other whales from swimming further.
