US Central Command CENTCOM reported that more than 3,000 machine guns, 578,000 rounds of ammunition and 23 anti-tank guided missiles were seized during the operation in the Gulf of Oman.
The operation was “ along routes historically used to smuggle weapons from Iran to Yemen,” CENTCOM said in a statement.
However, Iran dismissed the claim, saying the US claims were “politically motivated.” and aimed at “misleading the people”.
Tehran foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said in a statement on Thursday that “countries that have sold weapons to states that invaded Yemen cannot blame others.
Meanwhile, it has been widely reported that Iran offered material support to the Houthi rebels during the Seven Years' War, but Tehran denied the allegation.
