Volcanic eruption in Hawaii attracts thousands of tourists

The erupting Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii has attracted thousands of visitors and has become a tourist boon for the city of Hilo.
Some hotels in and around Hilo are fully booked at that time of year, which is usually considered “low” season, according to the Associated Press.
Helicopter tours of Mauna Loa, which began erupting on Sunday after a 38-year lull, are also in high demand among tourists and journalists.
The latest once Mauna Loa erupted in 1984. The current eruption is the 34th since the start of observations.
