The terrorist, Hussein Karake, 31, from Issawi in East Jerusalem, is an Israeli ID card holder, married and father of three, according to security officials. After the attack, it was decided to strengthen security measures in Jerusalem, especially in crowded places. At the same time, security forces have already arrived at the place of residence of the terrorist – to interrogate members of his family. Prime Minister Netanyahu also announced that security forces would work to seal the terrorist's house and demolish it.

The terrorist was driving a blue Mazda car – he was driving from south to north, moving at high speed, and when he reached the bus stop, he drove onto the sidewalk in his car and knocked down everyone who was there at the time.

The MDA teams called to the scene provided medical assistance to 6 victims with varying degrees of injury severity – in including one dead, three in critical condition and two children in serious condition.
