VIDEO. Ligue 2 – 10th day: the TFC falls at home against Caen (3-2) and misses the opportunity to take off at the top of the standings

the essential
The Toulousains conceded, this Monday, September 27, their first defeat of the season. In a match of rare pace and intensity.

What a game ! If the “Ligue 2” product was looking for good publicity, this TFC – Caen is a blessing: 5 goals, commitment, spectacle. This jovial game, between Toulouse and Caennais, the Violets lost it, 3 goals to 2. First defeat of the season for the boys of Philippe Montanier, who remain first in the standings, but with “only” 3 points ahead of their Sochaux dolphins. They could have counted 6 if successful.

Crazy first period

The Caennais scored the first, by Franklin Wadja from the 8th minute. The defensive midfielder, managed to get rid of Sylla’s marking, placed a crossed header at the reception of a corner which deceived Maxime Dupé.

Stung to the quick, the Toulousains will overthrow the Normans in barely 3 minutes. First reaction in the 14th minute: obtaining a penalty for a Caen hand in the penalty area. Branco van den Boomen, faithful to his habit since the start of the season, transforms without trembling with a cross strike from the right into the small net of the Norman goalkeeper.

Barely 2 minutes later (17th), the same van den Boomen doubled the bet on a direct free kick: a superb taut shot from the left corner of the penalty area. Directly in the skylight of the opposing goalkeeper.

Caen overthrown, who would soon return the favor to Toulouse! 39th minute: Caleb Zady Sery false company to Sylla right side, powerful cross in the penalty area, trajectory cut by a tackle by Bafodé Diakité who scores against his camp.

2-2 then 3-2 for the Normans just before the break: Jessy Deminguet takes a back center, the flat of the right foot. Hit placed which deceives Dupé on his left.

The start of the second half is more balanced, but no less lively. 65th minute: long pass to Rths Healey, shifted to the left. The Briton achieves superb control in the race, transplanting inside to place a curled shot of the right which flirts with the Norman square.

Barely 5 minutes later, Maxime Dupé distinguished himself by winning a face-to-face with Abdi. The Violets push, and expose themselves to cons, as in the 74th minute: Alexandre Mendy does not frame his shot.

In the last 10 minutes, Toulouse failed to reverse the trend, and lost 3-2. They had not lost at home since November 7, 2020 (5-4 against Valenciennes).

Next match for the TFC: trip to Amiens, Saturday October 2 (3 p.m.).
