Guillaume Papin and Julien Ababsa, journalists at France Televisions, were rewarded Tuesday with the Discovery Prize at the Sportel Awards, for their report “Always get up”.
Guillaume Papin, as well as Julien Ababsa, journalists at France Télévisions, were awarded, on Tuesday October 5, the Discovery Prize for their large format “Always get up”, broadcast last June on the program Stade 2.
In collaboration with RTS and Marc Gisclon, the two journalists followed the journey of walker Yves Auberson, suffering from Parkinson disease. The latter has traveled more than 1000 km in the Swiss Alps.
“Walk to feel alive“, this is Yves Auberson’s philosophy of life. “He’s really inspiring. He’s a fighter who loves life, who always wants to get up, literally and figuratively”, reports Guillaume Papin. “Before, people would change sidewalks when they passed him. Now they come to him. He’s a hero.”
A few months later, Guillaume Papin left to meet the former golfer in his “new life”. His disease is incurable, but Yves Auberson had undergone brain surgery to reduce symptoms such as tremor, or stiffness, and lead a “normal” life. A former sports coach, he was also hired in a clinic as a re-educator for patients with neurodegenerative diseases.
