 US life expectancy hits record low

U.S. life expectancy hit its lowest since 1996.

Coronavirus and drug overdoses are the cause, according to ABC News.

Thus, life expectancy in the US has decreased from 77 years in 2020 to 76.4 years in 2021.

Such conclusions were made against the background of two reports published by the CDC National Center for Health Statistics.< br />
The death rate in the US increased by 5.3% last year, from 835.4 per 100,000 people in 2020 to 879.7 per 100,000 in 2021.

Heart disease and cancer are also listed as the main causes of death. 460,000 Americans died from COVID last year.
