Belgium intends to build a town for Ukrainian refugees forced to leave their homes because of the war. According to The Mayor, this was announced by the authorities of Ghent. Construction is expected to start in September. The first residents will be able to move into the town in early 2023. Refugees are expected to find homes in a field on the outskirts of Ghent. According to plans, the population of the town will be about 600 people. About 200 apartments will be built. The construction will be financed by the Flemish government. According to Belgian Housing Minister Matthias Dipendale, Flanders pays great attention to the quality of housing. He also explained that this project will help reduce the additional burden on the housing market.
