Uganda gives green light to organ transplant

Uganda may soon have transplant centers so patients in need of organ transplants won't have to travel abroad.

Thanks to a new law allowing organ transplants in Uganda, reports BBC.

The new law will clear the way for the establishment of transplant centers and a national waiting list for organ recipients, but also contains strict measures in case of organ trafficking or violation of donor rights.

Parliament approved the new transplant law, which means that it will come into force as soon as the president gives his consent.
