UAE to abolish censorship for foreign films

UAE will abolish censorship for foreign films

The authorities of the United Arab Emirates have abolished censorship regulations for foreign films intended for screening in cinemas. The corresponding statement was made by the Ministry of Culture and Youth of the UAE.

For films in which there are scenes of “ nudity '', sex, etc., an age rating of 21+ will be introduced, but the films themselves will no longer be cropped or corrected in other ways.

This relaxation is due to the revision of the UAE's own social norms in an attempt to attract Western business and labor force.
