Iranian official media and Revolutionary Guard related websites, remain silent on the incident.
Since May, there have been several attacks and mysterious incidents against officers of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). One key commander was killed in Tehran on May 22 in broad daylight, and another was reported to have fallen from the roof of his house and died a few days later. Iran accused Israel of damaging the reputation of Iranian intelligence and security agencies.
In a statement, the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK) ) says that the attack was carried out by “revolutionary cells” — a term she often uses to characterize anti-government actions and protests in Iran.
