Two Americans who fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were taken prisoner by Russia

Two former American soldiers, now fighting on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, could have been captured by Russia. This is stated in the material of The Telegraph.

It is noted that 39-year-old Alexander Dryuke and 27-year-old Andy Gyun could have been captured by the Russian military last week during a counteroffensive in the north-eastern outskirts of Kharkov.

“We were on combat mission, and everything went completely wrong due to incorrect intelligence. We were told that the city was free, but it turned out that Russian troops were already advancing on it”, – a fellow American volunteer told reporters on condition of anonymity.

He suggests that Dryuke and Gyun may have been captured after they collapsed from an anti-tank shell or when a tank fired at their position. They tried to find the men later, but failed. In addition, a message appeared on one of the Russian Telegram channels about the alleged capture of two Americans.

According to The Telegraph, Russia may use the capture of American volunteers as evidence that the United States is directly involved in the war in Ukraine, as well as to obtain concessions from Washington.

On June 9, Russian state media reported that two British citizens, 28-year-old Aiden Aslin and 48-year-old Sean Pinner, were tried in Russian-controlled territory in Donetsk, where they were found guilty of mercenarism and of committing acts aimed at seizing power and overthrowing the so-called constitutional order of the unrecognized

The United Kingdom, the United States, Ukraine and a number of other states and organizations condemned the verdict.

Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said the British government was “working hard” to secure the release of two Britons on death row after they were captured in Ukraine.
