Among the huge variety of spices and their many useful substances, one of them is especially valuable for people with heart disease
The results of studies of a group of American scientists from the University of Nebraska in Omaha showed that turmeric can be very beneficial for heart health, and, in particular, be an effective tool in heart failure. Evidence of experts on this topic published in the Journal of Applied Physiology, writes Сlutch.
So, scientists have discovered that the main component of the spicy spices – curcumin – stimulates the Nrf2 gene, which is considered responsible for dealing with oxidative components in the muscles. This was revealed during observation of the action of this substance on the mouse body, which was earlier noticed problems with normal operation of the circulatory system. They are similar to those available to people suffering from heart failure.
Under the skin of mice was sewn a special pump, which pumped in their body a small dose of curcumin. After five months of experiment in rodents with heart problems were noticed significant improvements in heart muscle.
As a result, the animals began to run longer distances, speed while Jogging is slightly increased. Also, not surprising that in mice of the second, control group, who initially did not suffer heart failure, but received turmeric in the same amount was recorded exactly the same progress that talked about the increasing endurance of the heart muscle — the animals from the second group also started to run longer and faster.
At the end of the study, the authors concluded that “turmeric can be used to improve heart health and endurance of the human body as a whole.” By the way, already there were other studies that have repeatedly demonstrated the benefits of curcumin.
As we previously reported, doctors say that cinnamon is a spice, which may gradually control the development of diabetes, regulate the level of glucose in the blood. Experts have proven this in the study, which was published in 2003. It involved 60 patients with type 2 diabetes.
Each subject received from 1-6 grams of cinnamon in daily diet. Glucose levels in patients decreased from 18% to 29%, after 40 days of treatment and research. In addition, the results also identified that the inclusion of cinnamon in your diet can reduce the risk factors associated with diabetes and cardiovascular problems.
