An American tourist fell into the crater of Vesuvius while trying to get his phone.
The incident happened last weekend. According to Sky News, the 23-year-old man wanted to take a selfie at the top of the volcano, but dropped his phone. He decided to get it, but instead he fell into the crater himself.
The guides, accompanied by a rescue helicopter, descended into the crater and rescued the clumsy tourist. Fortunately, he escaped with minor injuries.
It is worth recalling that after the eruption in 1913, Vesuvius remained active until 1944.
The crater of the volcano has a diameter of 450 meters and a depth of 300 meters . The highest peak – 1277 meters.
