Three Stripes: Adidas Loses Court to Luxury Brand

Adidas AG lost in court to luxury brand Thom Browne Inc in a three-stripe trademark infringement lawsuit.
According to a Manhattan court ruling, the sports giant was unable to provide conclusive evidence.

It is clarified that the parallel stripes used by the two companies cannot mislead consumers about the brand. What's more, Thom Browne noticed the varying numbers of stripes used by the firms.

Adidas was disappointed by the court's verdict, but promised to strictly enforce their intellectual property rights.

In turn, Thom Browne is satisfied with the completion of the trial. Trademark proceedings began in 2021. The sports giant claimed in the lawsuit that Thom Browne's use of the four stripes and Grosgrain patterns on the shoes violated Adidas' proprietary rights.
