 Three Palestinians arrested on suspicion of illegal antiquities trade

Israeli security forces this morning arrested three Palestinians suspected of illegally trading in stolen antiquities in Judea and Samaria.

COGAT said in a statement that its forces, along with the border police found rare archaeological finds worth hundreds of thousands of shekels, as well as weapons during a raid on the homes of suspects in the villages of Burqa, Hawara and Silat al-Daer.

Items recovered included coins, insignia, stone doors from the Roman and Byzantine periods, and ancient tools from the Iron Age and the 7th century.
