Three doses of Pfizer vaccine can neutralize the new Omicron coronavirus strain. The vaccine manufacturer said in a statement.
“Ensuring that as many people as possible are fully vaccinated with the first two-dose series and booster vaccination remains the best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” said Pfizer CEO Albert Burla.
Preliminary research suggests that two doses of the vaccine may not be enough to protect against the new strain.
At the same time, scientists believe that two doses of the vaccine are still capable of protect people from severe disease.
As a reminder, Pfizer continues to work on a new vaccine specifically designed to combat the Omicron strain. The vaccine is expected to be ready in March 2022.
