Thousands of children could have died as a result of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) made a statement on Tuesday that the earthquake and aftershocks that destroyed many buildings in Turkey and Syria could have led to the death of a large number of children.
“Earthquakes that hit southern Turkey and northern Syria early yesterday morning could have killed thousands of children,” — UNICEF spokesman James Elder told reporters at a briefing in Geneva.
He added that the organization could not determine the exact number of dead children.
