Chinese authorities will spend $ 32 million to move a huge $ 35 million bronze statue to General Guan Yu. This is reported by Asia One.
Workers have already begun dismantling the statue in Jingzhou and removed the head of the 58-meter-high statue. The Bronze General will be installed eight kilometers from the original location.
Bronze General Guan Yu was recognized as the largest bronze statue in the world and was created for the Guinness Book of Records. However, local residents and even the Chinese authorities regarded the project as vain and called it a waste of money. In addition, the statue violated the local architecture, exceeding the permissible norms for the height of the objects being built.
