The UAF commented on Shevchenko's statement about working in the national team
The contract could be extended.
The leadership of the Ukrainian Football Association explained the situation with the end of the contract with the main coach of the national team Andriy Shevchenko and his coaching staff, Chronicle.info reports with reference to Channel 24.
On August 1, Andriy Shevchenko announced that his contract with the UAF had ended. He thanked everyone for their work. This was done by his assistant Andrea Mulder. Although in June 2020, the UAF offered Shevchenko a contract for 2.5 years (until December 31, 2022), and in September 2020, Shevchenko confirmed information about the signing of an agreement for such a period.
Now the UAF said that & # 171; at the request of the coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team, the contract was signed for one year with a possible extension by mutual agreement for another year and a half & # 187;
& # 171; Andriy Shevchenko and his coaching staff motivated this decision a desire to switch to club work after the European Championship, which Andriy Shevchenko has repeatedly said in his interviews. The Ukrainian Football Association has met halfway and agreed to such terms of the contract & # 187; – the UAF is convinced.
A meeting of the UAF Executive Committee is scheduled for August 9, at which a decision will be made on the coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team. He will have to prepare the team for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The next selection matches for the Ukrainian national team are on September 1 away from the Kazakhstan national team and on September 4 at home with the French national team.
