The State Duma of the Russian Federation will raise the issue of resuming the death penalty

The deputy suggested holding consultations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the government during the plenary session. The reason was the shooting incident at school No. 88 in Izhevsk, which occurred on the morning of September 26.

A former student of this school, born in 1988, wearing clothes with Nazi symbols and a balaclava, entered the territory of the educational institution, shooting the guards. After that, the man began to shoot at teachers and children. As a result of the incident, according to the latest data, 17 people died, 11 of them children.

The moratorium on the death penalty in the Russian Federation has been in effect since 1997. Its adoption allowed Russia to join the Council of Europe.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the issue of lifting the moratorium was not discussed in the Kremlin.
