American paleontologists have discovered in Nevada the remains of an ichthyosaur – a giant marine reptile.
The ichthyosaur found belonged to the species Cymbospondylus youngorum, its body length reached 17 meters, and the skull is 2 meters, according to Live Science.
“Imagine an animal that looks like a sea dragon: a streamlined body, quite long, with limbs turned into fins, and a long tail,” the scientists say.
It is noted that paleontologists noticed the remains of an ichthyosaur back in 1998, but they managed to dig it up completely only in 2015. The results of the study of the remains were presented recently.
