A senior government official who traveled with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett to Bahrain said ongoing clashes in Jerusalem's Sheikh Jarrah area could lead to “regional escalation” ;. The Times of Israel reported.
“The deterioration of the situation in Sheikh Jarrah could lead to a regional escalation,” the official told reporters.
He noted that Bennett is responsible for preventing such an escalation: “There is a responsibility to prevent an escalation that can lead to very difficult things” hellip; this is not a joke”
The official also said that Israel is “slowly” working to restore relations with Turkey:
“The parties are working slowly. We approach cautiously, gesturing here and there, and we really see Turkey's increased activity against Hamas terrorism.”
At the same time, it is noted that the increased activity of Turkey against Hamas was not based on the demands of Israel.
