The Ministry of Education and the Center for Future Scientists of the Maimonides Foundation begin the selection of candidates for the Junior Research Team. The team will train for two years in a range of subjects and receive a broad scientific education along with creative thinking. The team will include 200 schoolchildren, starting from the seventh grade. The junior team is a reserve for the senior team participating in international olympiads in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and computer science. The path to the national team, which has the honor of representing the country at a prestigious international competition, begins in the junior team.

After two years of study, each member of the team will pass exams in their area of specialization (mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and computer science). Further classes will be held in accordance with the chosen discipline and in preparation for the international Olympiad. The participant can choose one or two areas of specialization, according to their abilities. Throughout the program, participants will take exams and be tested for compliance with the national team and its goals.
The process of forming the Team begins at the end of the 7th (כיתה ז') grade. Training takes place during the 8th (כיתה ח') and 9th (כיתה ט') grades. Selection to the National Team takes place in three stages. The first qualifying exam will take place on January 2 and 5, 2023.There is no need to register for the exam, every student will be able to take it online on the website of the Ministry of Education or at school.
