On Friday, April 8, the second Israeli astronaut Eitan Stibbe went into space. He was sent as part of the Axiom Ax-1 mission crew. The spacecraft successfully orbited Earth aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon on a Falcon 9 launch vehicle. Former NASA astronaut Michael Lopez-Alegria commands the crew, which includes pilot Larry Connor and mission specialists Stibbe and Mark Paty. The mission is operated by Houston-based firm Axiom Space. Stibbe is to conduct about 35 experiments for companies and research institutes as part of his Rakia mission to the ISS. He will be the second Israeli to ever fly into space.
