Scientists have tried to figure out how to combine the two alcoholic drinks affects alcohol withdrawal syndrome
Researchers from Vilenskogo/Herdecke University (Germany) and Cambridge University (UK) on a simple two-stage experiment showed that the sequence of drinking beer and wine does not affect the severity of hangover. It is reported Naked-science.
Experts took 90 volunteers and divided them into three groups: the first was 31 people, the second as much, third, the control 28. Half of the participants were women. Average age of 23.9 years. The first group first drank two pints of beer, and then went on to four large (250 milliliters) glasses of white wine.
In the second group consumed the same amount of alcohol, but in reverse order. The third group of people drank one thing: either beer or wine. After a week passed the second stage of the experiment, where each of the groups switched drinks places.
During both days all participants were asked to determine their degree of intoxication on a scale from zero to ten. This question was repeated throughout the evening at regular intervals of time. Before going to sleep the volunteers got chilled water in the quantities that they required in accordance with the body mass index. Each of them was observed by the doctors during the night.
“The next morning, all participants filled out a questionnaire, which is based on factors such as thirst, fatigue, headache, dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain, palpitations and loss of appetite, determined the severity of a hangover, which in total ranged from 0 to 56”, — stated in the message.
In the end, scientists found no relationship between the sequence of consumption of alcoholic drinks and a variation in the severity of hangover.
They said that did not help to predict the intensity of a hangover by factors such as age, body weight and frequency of consumption of alcoholic beverages. The authors noticed that women hangover caused more unpleasant symptoms compared to men.
