Danish shoe maker Ecco, amid criticism for continuing to operate in Russia, announced on Wednesday that it would lose its status as a supplier to the royal family, in which has been located for more than 30 years.
Ecco has been a supplier to the royal family since April 1991. It will now automatically end in April 2023, according to TV2.
In a statement, Ecco said it had “noted” decision of the Royal Family of Denmark and has no further comment. The reason for this decision is not given.
However, we note that in recent weeks Ecco has been criticized for refusing to stop working in Russia amid its full-scale aggression against Ukraine.
< br /> The brand's executive director Panos Mytaros said earlier that there are 200 Ecco stores in Russia with more than 1800 employees, and the company cannot leave the Russian market to take care of them. In May, it also became known that Ecco earned 103 million crowns (about 14 million euros) in Russia.
Due to the continuation of work in Russia, several Danish dealers have already refused to cooperate with Ecco.
Status The royal family in Denmark is provided by the royal family at its discretion. It is valid for five years and can be renewed. The key criterion for maintaining – further use of brand products by members of the royal family.
