 The Queen of Denmark will not be the patron of the literary award because of a Russian woman on the jury

This award is called the Nobel Prize in Children's Literature and is presented by IBBY International. In September, Russian illustrator and art history professor Anastasia Arkhipova was elected to chair the jury that will award the award in 2024.

Local IBBY cells in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Belgium, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania tried to get Arkhipova resign , but in vain.

IBBY replied that the board members did not represent the government of their country, but only themselves as authors, designers or publishers.

IBBY Denmark did not sign this a letter, but Queen Margrethe II made her move:
– the award was removed from the list of foreign projects under the patronage of the august person on the website of the Royal Palace;
– the mention of royal patronage also disappeared from the IBBY website.

In addition to belonging to Russia, Arkhipova is a member of the Moscow Association of Artists, which actively promotes Russia's war in Ukraine.
