Queen Elizabeth II took to the service of the new court poet – professors of the University of Oxford Simon Armitage. This was reported in Twitter of the Royal family, writes the Chronicle.info with reference to League.

“Simon Armitage gets the Gold medal for poetry from Her Majesty. The medal is awarded for outstanding achievements in poetry — it was first established in 1933 by king George V at the suggestion of the then poet laureate John Mayfield”, — stated in the message.

The function of court poet is to reflect in verse the events in the life of the Royal family and the state.
