Researchers were told what diseases affects longevity
Scientists set out to find out which chronic diseases typical of the aged, and the age at which they acquired them.
Scientists are primarily interested in the question: “Long life is the result of good genetics or the unique ability of the organism to cope with the disease?”
In the study, researchers interviewed 424 people aged one hundred years and older, the main thing that was required to know — whether they suffer from any of the following listed diseases (hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, skin cancer, osteoporosis, thyroid disease, Parkinson’s disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) when they are first encountered and what kind of lifestyle led. All respondents were divided into three categories.
The first group of survivors. This category consisted of 24% of men and 43% women. Ranked them all, who was diagnosed with at least one of the above diseases by the age of 80 years.
The second group escaped. These included those of respondents who have reached the age of 100 years without any major diseases. These were 32% among men and 15% among women.
The third group is delayed. This category includes all who have been diagnosed with at least one of the diseases in the list, but at the age of 80 years. Among them were men 44% and women 42%.
Almost all the respondents fell into the category of “escaped” — 87% of men and 83% of female centenarians never had any one of these three diseases.
Scientists have documented that up to one hundred years to live people with very different histories. But the later the person got the diagnosis, the better it is for the duration of his life.
The study showed that the later the person is diagnosed with one or another serious disease, the better. Many factors associated with lifestyle are able to delay onset of the disease at a later age or to help to completely avoid disease. Among these factors, first and foremost, is a regular exercise, a healthy diet, strong and long sleep and ability to relax. The disease can be prevented or overcome and with the help of available medical resources.
However, this study tells us nothing about the extent to which the care of their own health affects the length of our lives. It does not take into account the quality of life of the interviewed centenarians.
We will remind, it became known as body proportions affect the longevity
