Today (Sunday), Minister of Construction Zeev Elkin signed a framework agreement with the Municipality of Nof HaGalil to build 6,898 housing units, as well as business, public and commercial areas. This is a master plan with a budgetary framework of about NIS 2.3 billion. Nof-a-Galil became the tenth city with which the state signed a comprehensive agreement.
This morning in Nof-a-Galil, the ceremony of signing a comprehensive agreement on construction in the city ("eskem gag") was held in the presence of the Minister of Construction Zeev Elkin, Mayor of the city Ronen Plot, General Director of the Ministry of Construction Aviad Friedman, General Director of the Land Administration Janki Quint.
The Ministry of Construction is making great efforts to strengthen local governments throughout the country. In accordance with an agreement signed by the Ministry of Construction in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance and the Israel Lands Authority, and in order to meet the expected demand for housing in Nof HaGalil, new residential areas will be created in the city. It is about the construction of 6898 housing units on public land in an accelerated process, including commercial and business complexes, neighborhood development, infrastructure improvement and the creation of public institutions.
The signing of this agreement allows you to quickly start construction, and also gives guarantees to the municipality that it will be allocated all the necessary resources for the new infrastructure necessary for settling new residents. For its part, the city hall is committed to streamlining the planning process, reducing bureaucracy and issuing building permits in an expedited manner.
Minister of Construction, Zeev Elkin:"We do not stop for a minute and increase the offer in the real estate market throughout the country, as planned. The framework agreement that we are signing today is the tenth agreement with local authorities. According to the agreement, about 7,000 new housing units will be built in Nof-a-Galil and the city's population will increase by 40%. This is a significant investment of 2.3 billion shekels, which is mainly intended for new and high-quality construction and renovation of old infrastructure. Within the framework of each agreement, we, first of all, take care of the residents and do everything to provide them with financial security and a higher standard of living. It is symbolic that this umbrella agreement was signed after the end of registration for participation in the lottery for 600 housing units in Nof HaGalil as part of the “Apartment with a discount” project. At the same time, at least 15 families applied for each apartment, which proves that there is a great demand for housing in this city. I thank our partners, the municipality of Nof-a-Galil, the ministries and all the officials involved. I am proud that I was able to contribute to the development and strengthening of the north of the country.”
