Perseverance is equipped with a soil sample collection and storage system that uses rotary percussion drilling technology. With a drill attached to a robotic & # 171; arm & # 187; 2 meters long, Perseverance drills a selected sample and extracts material from it, which then falls into a reservoir and is stored inside the rover.
In the future, samples collected during the rover's mission to Mars will be delivered to Earth.
