After the death of the French nun Sister Andre, who passed away in early January at the age of 118, the oldest woman on the planet was a native of the United States, Maria Bragnas Morera.

According to CNN, she included in the Guinness Book of Records.

Morera has three children, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Morera spent the last 22 years in a nursing home in Catalonia. She was born almost 116 years ago in San Francisco on March 4, 1907.

The woman has survived the horrors of two world wars, civil war and two global pandemics. She was born two years before construction began on the ill-fated Titanic.

Despite her venerable age, Morera actively uses the social network Twitter to communicate with thousands of subscribers.

“I'm very old, but not an idiot,” — an elderly woman writes.

She was born a year after her parents emigrated to the United States. Her father died of tuberculosis near the end of the transatlantic journey, when they left for Barcelona eight years later. At the same time, Morera herself permanently lost her hearing in one ear. The family's move took place during the First World War. The woman also survived the Spanish Civil War and World War II.

She is one of the oldest people on the planet who recovered from the coronavirus. She tested positive for COVID in 2020. After being infected, she thanked followers for their concern about her health, but said she would not give interviews because she needed peace.

the lives of the residents or the staff who care for us have changed,” she wrote on Twitter.
