A lockdown is being introduced in the Netherlands due to a new strain of the Omicron coronavirus.

This was announced by Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

According to him, sports events will continue to be held, but spectators will not be allowed to attend.

Educational institutions will be closed, and citizens will not be allowed to receive more than two guests a day. The exceptions will be Christmas and New Years, but the updated rules for these days will be announced later.
