On Sunday, December 4, the number of carcasses of dead seals that washed up on the shore of the Caspian Sea in Dagestan increased. Already counted about 2500 carcasses. Most of all in the Yuzbash area and between the mouths of the Sulak and Shurinka rivers. It is believed that they died due to natural factors – a strong storm and the release of underwater gas. According to Zaur Gapizov, director general of the Caspian Conservation Center, the specimens died about two weeks ago. There were no signs of violent death. The investigation continues.
