On Sunday, December 26, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 struck the Japanese Ryukyu Islands. This was reported by the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (ESMC).
According to EMSC, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km. Scientists later lowered the magnitude of the earthquake to 5.4.
There were no reports of injuries or destruction.
