The International Olympic Committee (IOC) will not revise its recommendations on the removal of Russian athletes from competitions yet.
This was stated by the head of the IOC Thomas Bach at the congress of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) in Budapest.
According to him, international sports are concerned about the formation of a new world order because of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
< br /> “World sport is about unity and respect for the rules, that's what our sanctions and recommendations reflect, and I want to thank FINA for following these recommendations. The time has not yet come to revise or mitigate them, but we must not forget how to solve the dilemma that has arisen,” Bach emphasized.
Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions because of the war against Ukraine. Switzerland generally called for Russia and Belarus to be excluded from the International Olympic Committee.
It also became known that Russia and Belarus were suspended from the 2023 Basketball World Cup and other competitions.
