The International Gymnastics Federation has suspended the President of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics and the head coach of the Russian national team, Irina Viner, from work in international competitions for two years.

“Wiener is not allowed to participate or receive accreditation for any role in international competitions, including work as a coach, head of delegation or other official role at any event under the auspices of the International Gymnastics Federation”, – according to a press release.

According to the federation, the decision was taken as a result of proceedings related, among other things, to Wiener's statements following the results of the Tokyo Olympics, which the disciplinary commission considered insulting and violating the rules of the federation. Then Viner criticized the refereeing about the scores that Russian athletes received in the individual all-around.

Viner's suspension will begin from the day the sanctions against Russian gymnastics imposed due to the war in Ukraine are lifted.
