The prosecutor's office has filed an indictment in the Beersheba District Court against Ali Abu Savit, a Bedouin from the Negev, on charges of intentional bodily injury and other crimes.

The indictment describes how in early November, Abu Savit, along with his accomplice, arrived in one of the districts of Beersheba, intending to disassemble the cars. They began to dismantle the exterior of the Toyota car and remove the wheels, but the citizens who noticed them called the police. Arriving at the scene, the car noticed the thieves who climbed into the car and tried to escape.

Arriving at the scene, the police turned on the sirens and tried to block their way, but Abu Savit continued to drive. The policeman ran to the driver's door, and the thieves began to back out, just as Mark Refailov and his wife Tatyana were on an evening walk with their young son. “It was Saturday night,” Mark says. "My wife and I were walking, we wanted to get some air. I turned around and suddenly saw a car that was reversing and was about to hit me, my wife and child. I pushed my wife to the right side and threw the stroller with the baby to the left side. I was stabbed in the back, and the driver of the car tried to drive onto the sidewalk and hit my wife.”

According to the indictment, the father of the family, who noticed the approaching car and heard one of the policemen yell at him to was careful, pushed the baby carriage, which overturned with the baby inside, and pushed his wife onto the sidewalk. The thieves continued to move forward and drove along the sidewalk towards the dirt area when additional police forces arrived.

During the chase, at an intersection where a red traffic light was on, Abu Sawit overtook a car and collided with him and with traffic light. Both thieves jumped out of the car and fled the scene. They climbed over the fence and hid in the bushes of a nearby school, but after a while they were discovered and arrested. If I could, I would shoot.”
