First Reactor at Nine Mile Point NPP – the oldest operating unit in the US

Unit 1 BWR-2 of General Electric technology with a nominal capacity of 644 MW was connected to the national grid in November 1969. It is currently the oldest commercial nuclear reactor in the United States still in operation.

The unit is licensed to operate until 2029. Thus, the first reactor at the Nine Mile Point nuclear power plant should operate for a total of 60 years.
