World No. 1 stood up for the Russians suspended from the tournament

World number one Novak Djokovic stood up for athletes from Belarus and Russia who were disqualified from the Wimbledon tournament.

“I think this decision was wrong, a mistake. I don't support this at all. But this topic is very sensitive and no matter what decision you make, it will still lead to disputes. Overall, I'm happy that the players have teamed up with the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and shown that when a mistake occurs at a Grand Slam, as Wimbledon did, we have to show that there will be consequences,” & ndash; Djokovic said.
