After the mass extinction of fish in the Oder River (Odra, Oder), laboratory tests were carried out.

The test results showed a high level of salinity, but no mercury poisoning in the waters of the river. This was stated by Anna Moskva, Minister of the Environment of Poland, reports AP.

She noted that the result of water samples taken both in Poland and in Germany revealed an increased level of salt. According to her, in Poland is still undergoing comprehensive toxicological studies.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki suggested that “a huge amount of chemical waste” had been dumped into the river, causing environmental damage so serious that the restoration of the waterway it will take years.
