The creator of Gmail predicted the imminent end of the Google search engine

With the advent of AI-based chatbots, experts around the world are talking about the imminent death of classic search engines. In their opinion, they will not be able to compete on equal terms with neural networks. Google, which has a monopoly position in the market, is no exception in this respect.
Paul Buckheit, one of the developers of Gmail, has a similar opinion. He published a forecast on Twitter, from which it follows that the Google search engine will last no more than two years. According to the expert, unlike Google, the ChatGPT bot answers user questions in more detail. As an example, Backheit cited screenshots of Google and ChatGPT responses to the question: “How to represent a differential equation in LaTeX?” will help. It will continue to lose money due to the need to significantly recycle all of its products. That is, AI algorithms by themselves are not a guarantee of success in the future.
By the way, Microsoft is also planning to introduce AI into its search engine. Within a few years, she intends to invest $10 billion in the startup OpenAI, which owns the ChatGPT bot. Top management of the software giant believes that AI algorithms will allow Bing to compete with the Google search engine.
Google may be only a year or two away from total disruption. AI will eliminate the Search Engine Result Page, which is where they make most of their money.
Even if they catch up on AI, they can't fully deploy it without destroying the most valuable part of their business! https://t.co/jtq25LXdkj
