Thai residents have begun to eat crocodile meat instead of pork more often.
Against the backdrop of the ongoing African plague in Thailand, prices for pork meat began to rise rapidly, which is why local residents are increasingly eating crocodile meat.
According to the US magazine Vice, about 20,000 crocodiles are killed every month in Thailand for eating crocodile meat. However, the number continues to increase.
“Due to the fact that pork is expensive, more and more people began to eat crocodile meat, which is much cheaper and tastier. It's also low in fat and high in protein,” — said one of the owners of crocodile farms.
